The Brief:

The Client were looking to install an Outdoor Gym at the Cedar House. The Cedar House focuses on rehabilitation for people with severe and enduring mental health problems and the Outdoor Gym provided a safe space for patients to exercise outside.

Installation:

The installation was securely fenced and completed in a timely manner due to the nature of the location and patients on site. All tools were secured and removed at the end of the day to ensure patient safety at all times.

Outcome:

The site created has created a safe and secure location for patients to exercise outside. Exercise has been proven to increase endorphins which trigger a positive feeling in the body, which works well for the Cedar House. The site is well used and allows a combination of cardiovascular and strength based workouts.

Dr Janet Atherton, Director of Public Health, said: “There is growing research which shows that outdoor physical activity improves our mental health and well-being. The outdoor gyms offers users the opportunity to improve their emotional well-being while getting fit.”
