The Site :

The Brief:
The Client were looking to get on board with the government Daily Mile fitness program. They needed a suitable space for children to be able to run and achieve these targets and wanted to install a track onto their field space. The field often suffered from drainage problems, so the surfacing installed would need to deal with these.
Surfacing installed:
SUDS Bond – Our SUDS Bond is compliant with BS EN 14877 for water infiltration rate which exceeded the minimum requirements of 150mm/h. This was a perfect solution for the drainage issues associated with the project.
The Challenges:
The installation of this site provided a few challenges for the team. Working within a school site meant children were around during peak hours. The field was in a fenced off and locked location which allowed the team to work safely in the designated area, this also helped limited access and protect the children while the works were completed.
Outcome:
The track has been a great success with the children at the school with an improvement to physical fitness and well being already being seen due to regular use. The activity is social and non-competitive, so all children can feel at ease with joining in with the activity. The use of SUDS has been perfect for the drainage issues and the track is usable in all weather conditions.
