The brief:
In the summer of 2023 Sarratt Parish Council reached out to
us. The council wanted to create a new multi use play space
that would benefit the local children from toddlers to teens.
Whilst the new vision was to still include an element of skate,
the focus was widened to include sport and play.
Equipment installed:
Two slides are connected by a climbing wall, users then make
their way across the wobble bridge connector to the zip line tower.
Easy access steps with hand holds also access the zip line tower.
Climbing nets and a fireman’s pole complete this fun favourite.
Wet-pour surfacing was used to create an accessible play
space and inclusive elements were woven into the design
with a supportive back springer, double width slide allowing
for a carer and child to slide together or friends to slide side
by side and an inclusive basket swing.
A low level toddler multi play unit allows little ones to play and
explore independently. A seated roundabout, rotating see-saw
and swings offer the children the thrill of dynamic play.
Sitting adjacent to this is the new kick-about area with multi
use sports wall and a table tennis table. A teen shelter close
by offers a place to spectate or socialise and the new and
hugely popular half pipe skate ramp completes the space.
The challenges:
It was all systems go once final planning permissions were
received, which meant the play area construction was started
in the middle of winter. Wet weather and saturated ground
challenged our team throughout but despite the conditions
the play area was completed on scheduled.
