The overseeing group felt a responsibility to deliver a
community play and fitness area, working closely with Caloo
and the County Council over 18 months to establish a multiuse
space encouraging outdoor activity.
Equipment installed:
The old play equipment was replaced with new aluminum
units in green and brown tones, selected for age-appropriate
features including low-level multi-play for preschoolers and a
challenging climbing unit for juniors, with wetpour surfacing
for wheelchair accessibility and added timber equipment for
an adventure trail.
The old tarmac area was rejuvenated with a new surface and
sports markings, and the zip wire received a wetpour upgrade.
The project necessitated an all-weather accessible track
for diverse activities like jogging and cycling, employing
Sudsbond permeable paving, which is wheelchair-friendly
and sustainable, strategically located to not interfere with
neighboring school activities, linking to all playing field
access gates for community-wide accessibility.
Finally fitness equipment was placed around the track in 4
locations. Each location offering a stop of point with 2 items
of gym equipment.
The Challenges:
We worked during a time when we had a lot of rain and we
had to navigate around the weather and ground conditions in
order to complete on time.
Outcome:
A happy client!
“Caloo have been an excellent partner for our playground
upgrade project from the initial discussions through the
installation and post implementation follow up. They were
helpful from the outset being quick to interpret our objectives
and diligent in seeing that the final design achieved them within
our budget. Thanks Caloo!”
