Date 2017
Project Type SEN Playground and Wetpour Safety Surfacing

The Site:
The St Elizabeth Centre provides education, care
and medical support for people of all ages who have epilepsy and other complex needs.

The Brief:
The Client indicated they were looking for a SEN playground which could be all inclusive to allow all of the children the chance to play. The playground was to have colourful safety surfacing and play units which could be used by several users at one time to encourage social play.

Equipment Installed:

• Cantilever Basket Swing.
• Wheelchair Ability Swing,
• ManDDAla Accessible Whirl,
• Steel Aerial Runway 20m Long,
• In Ground Trampoline,
• Unity Multi Play Unit – Recycled Materials,
• Inline Junior Swing 1 Bay.

The Challenges:
Protective fencing was installed to allow the team to work safely in the designated area, this also helped limited access and protect the students while the works were completed.

We focused on ensuring that the works did not have an adverse effect on the environment at the St Elizabeth Centre and the project was completed within the allocated time frame to minimise disruption.

The Outcome:
The project was a huge success with the final playground showcasing a colourful and all inclusive site. The site features some classic playground unit such as a wide range of swings including wheelchair swing and basket swing, an all inclusive roundabout suitable for wheelchair users and a in ground trampoline.

The whole site features colourful wet pour safety surfacing with shapes surrounding each unit.
